A Geeky Project

Hudson Gardens & Event Center

The Hudson Gardens & Event Center, a non-profit organization, wanted to attract multiple audiences with its refreshed, modernized website.

The challenge

As a concert and events venue as well as a botanical garden, The Hudson Gardens & Events Center needed a website that would attract a wide variety of audiences. In addition, the non-profit organization wanted to be able to better promote its summer concert series, venue spaces, community programs, and different ways to support and get involved.

For the new custom design, Hudson Gardens wanted a look and feel that was a bit edgy and artsy but would still appeal to its varied audiences. Their staff also needed an easier way to manage their content than what their proprietary content management system (CMS) was providing them.

The solution

The new Hudson Gardens website is modern, clean, and well-organized. We included colorful illustrations and custom icons in the design to give it an artsy look and feel.

The website is also accessible because it was important to Hudson Gardens to be welcoming and usable for all who visit the website. The navigation menu also was slimmed down and better organized to help guide visitors to where they most want to go.

To help make content easy to manage for their staff, we built their new website on the WordPress CMS. Through a page builder tailored specifically to the website, staff can easily change out content and mix-and-match different content layouts on newly created pages. This allows their team to display content in the best possible way on the website.

One of the highlights of the website is the custom events calendar, which showcases different events (such as concerts, recurring events or garden classes) in one easy-to-view layout. The calendar also highlights sold-out events and continues to show select past events so visitors can see the wide variety of activities that go on at Hudson Gardens.

The results

The new Hudson Gardens website ticked off all the boxes for the organization: it’s modern and visually engaging, it’s well organized for their visitors, and it’s easy for their staff to use. During our website training, the staff was excited that they could leave the limitations of the old site in the past and focus on all that their new website can do for their future.

We are also proud to announce that The Hudson Gardens & Event Center website redesign was awarded a 2019 WebAward for Best Entertainment Website.

We researched multiple web developers when the time came to redesign hudsongardens.org, and we could not be happier that we chose CodeGeek. Their skilled and creative team took the time to understand our organization’s unique goals, and they translated those insights into a custom website that effectively engages a variety of audiences. Our website is finally as beautiful as Hudson Gardens itself, which allows us to better engage the nature enthusiasts interested in our garden exhibits, the music fans interested in our concerts, the engaged couples interested in our venues, and the many other people who visit our site.
