How do you build a website that serves tens of thousands of people each year while also being ADA compliant?
The solution
First and foremost, we expertly prioritized the information on the homepage and menus — from hundreds of pages to just 17 carefully curated items in the main navigation. This effort was key to helping everyone, from eventgoers to community members, easily find the information they are looking for.
In addition, many flexible features were included during development that now allow site administrators to create new show listings that pull data directly from the venue’s ticketing system, reducing the staff’s internal workload significantly when show and event details change.
Most importantly, we applied our thorough accessibility processes and techniques throughout every phase of the project, which includes design, programming and content entry, to achieve ADA compliance.
The results
Visitors to The Lincoln Center – City of Fort Collins website can now easily do everything they need to do using any web browser, mobile device, and assistive technology — making it as accessible as possible to the tens of thousands of people who visit the site every year.
In addition, our architecture and programming uses the venue’s pre-existing data feed for the ticketing system, which has greatly reduced website content entry work for their staff, saving them time and money.
The website is also incredibly reliable. In the past, venue staff required website support and troubleshooting several times per year to address problems arising whenever a new show was released. Six months after launch, however, they haven’t had to call us once for urgent support.
We’re also proud to announce that The Lincoln Center – City of Fort Collins website is a 2024 Vega Award Gold winner for Art/Performing Arts Website & Mobile Sites and a 2024 WebAward winner for Outstanding Website for Art.
