Branding That Builds Better Relationships

Over here at GeekHQ, we believe in relationships first + helping each other be the very best people we can be.

However, when we took a gander at our branding at the beginning of 2024, we realized a few things didn’t fully reflect our heart for building these awesome relationships.

So we made a few adjustments. โœ๏ธ

1. New tagline

CodeGeek's updated logo with tweaked blue and green and a new tagline. Tagline reads: Your vision. Our talent. One team.

We love spending our days in the nitty gritty of building custom websites and web apps, all to help our clients succeed.

And the best way for us to do that is to do it together. ๐Ÿค

  1. Validate and embrace our clients’ vision.
  2. Harness our skill and know-how.
  3. Transform that vision into reality, with Geeks and clients working together.

So after many team branding exercises and discussions, we decided to update our tagline so that this success-through-togetherness message was front and center.

Our new tagline = Your vision. Our talent. One team. ๐Ÿ˜

2. Updated color palette

A before and after comparison of CodeGeek's blue and green color palette showing the new color codes selected to improve accessibility.

We also strive to build relationships globally by helping to make the web as accessible as possible โ€” for everyone.

However, we realized that our brand colors didn’t fully pass color contrast tests for accessibility, meaning they weren’t actually as accessible as they could be for those with vision impairments. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So we got to work:

  1. meeting color contrast requirements for WCAG AA,
  2. while keeping our brand colors as close to the originals as possible.

The results may seem like minor tweaks to our green and blue, but the accessibility benefits make a world of difference. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

Branding for better relationships

As our Head Geek shares in his post Whatโ€™s Our โ€œWhyโ€ for Investing in Company Culture?, “Anyone who works with us knows whatโ€™s important to our team: Relationships first. Everything else flows from that.”

But what about those who haven’t worked with us yet?

We want them to know right off that bat that the 1:1 is more important to us than anything else, including the bottom line.

That’s why we’re dedicated to frequently revisiting all parts of ourselves, including our branding, to make sure our message is clear.

And every ounce of effort is worth it so that we can build the best relationships we possibly can.

The people โ€” and our relationships with them โ€” come first.
