“All about websites” presentation at The Executive Center

I gave an introductory presentation titled “All about websites” to about half a dozen people this past Friday at The Executive Center in Fort Collins. The presentation was part of Adrienne Zoble’s series of Marketing Forums. (Incidentally, Adrienne is excellent at coming up with great marketing ideas that you can implement yourself and don’t cost a lot of money. If you are looking for marketing assistance, I highly recommend her. I’ve attended some of her marketing seminars and have referred her to several clients. Her ideas are straight forward and just make a ton of sense.)

My colleague Laurie Macomber of Blue Skies Marketing, a Search Engine Optimization expert presented the sections on Local Search listings and SEO.

I spoke about the big picture — that your web site should be the hub of your integrated marketing plan, and that your web presence is much more than just your web site. Then we covered what makes a good web site: high quality content written with the visitor’s perspective in mind, good design (and why that really does matter), and a solid technical foundation that includes coding to web standards, and testing your web site in numerous browsers (IE7, IE6, FireFox, Safari and Opera at a minimum), testing same at different viewport sizes (the size of the browser window), and at different user-selectable font size settings.

The response from attendees was very positive and I look forward to presenting the session again. If you or your company are interested, send me an email.
